Beigel and Beigel whole wheat pretzle sticks!

As loyal readers and friend probably know, my mother was born in Israel and I’ve been there countless times.  It’s a beautiful country, but one of my favorite things about Israel is the food. The fresh AND packages foods are incredible. Yes, packaged!  In the states I’ll eat packages foods, but I am no that keen on them and I think they aren’t mind blowingly delicious.  Maybe its because they use better ingredients to begin with in Israel, but I am ga-ga over some of their manufactured specialties (like chocolate milk in a bag, “bisli”, and other special cookies and candy bars). I know, I these foods aren’t the healthiest, but that’s why I have them when I am there and that’s it.  But luckily, some of their products are healthy too which brings me to this review. Beigel and Beigel is a well known snack food company.  Unlike Nabisco, I don’t think this company even knows what trans-fat is.  The more awesome thing is that they sell a lot of their products at U.S, grocery stores.  So I decided to try their whole wheat pretzel thin sticks (they also come in large rods).  41 sticks (a serving) is 110 calories, with 1 g fat, 22 g carbs, 4 g fiber, and 1 g sugar.  I am actually impressed; I have yet to see pretzels, even healthier ones, to surpass the fiber count. Can I these are terrible…..if you have a snack addiction. They taste wonderful! No different I’d say than your average pretzel, but I like that their thin sticks (I hate breaking my teeth on those oversized ones) and they are perfectly salted!  Give me some dark chocolate and you’ve got one of my favorite sweet treats (I believe pretzels and chocolate are the best combo ever! They should turn it into an ice cream flavor). Kudos for being healthier, for being on sale (1.69 per package), and for tasting great. I wont give it an A because it IS pretty devoid of vitamins and protein, but happy A-.

I've recently had these too!

I've recently had these too! So good! My stepdads sister was just in Israel and brought us a few bags back.

Pretzels and chocolate, awesome combo. Have you tried Peanut Butter and Co.'s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter? It's fantastic with pretzels...among other things. And also on the topic of PB and Co. They have a new flavour out, Maple Peanut Butter...most wonderful combo ever. It's amazing.

btw, great entry. :)

Maple and Peanut butter? hmm

Maple and Peanut butter? hmm sound yummy! i acutally used to put sugar free maple syrup in peanut butter sandwiches sometimes when i was in high school when we ran out of jam. now they've cut out the middle man! I'll try to find it and review it!

The maple is soooo good.

The maple is soooo good. It's a new flavour, so other than the actual PB and Co store, I think the only other place to get it might be their online store. I have seen alot of the other flavours at stores like Whole Foods, even my local Giant carries them now. They are also making a PB and Honey blend now. Also, gotta say, surprisingly the spicy PB they make called, The Heat Is On, is FANTASTIC! My boyfriend likes to make spicy peanut noodles with it. lol they are addictive though, so careful. :) http://www.ilovepeanutbutter.com/

Trader Joe's used to carry a soy pretzel.. Not sure they do anymore, but they might sell a whole wheat/multigrain proteiny/fiber-filled pretzel. The soy pretzels used soy flour and had ALOT of protein. Haven't seen them lately, but thats because I don't really buy pretzels from there any longer.

Also, for people looking for the BB pretzels, you might be able to find them if you have a good grocery store with a large kosher section.. Then again..I live in a highly jewish populated area, so I have seen these at the Giant.

I wish these pretzels were

I wish these pretzels were more widely available they sound great ,but for now I just have to hope that Kashi will come out with a brand of pretzels like these( it's possible they did crackers why not pretzels).

I love the PB&CO dark chocolate and the Maple peanut butter. I'm surprised you haven't tried them the only downside to them is the fact that there addictive and a little expensive for there size.
