Fabe's Maple Donut!

How is everyone recoving from thanksgiving? i hope well. anyhow, i must tell on a weird thing my chef instructor did on wednesday (for those of you that didn't realize, i attend culinary school). We had to make a twice baked potato to serve with our filet mignon dish, and that requires some cooked maple bacon. So the whole class made a big batch that was just layer their or racks for us to use. I guess there must have been some leftover, and some other student brought in donuts that day, and my chef to the donut and, yep, slapped on four slices of bacon on it! I was a little shocked but he just said, "The maple taste of the baconis just so delicious with the donut!".  Hmm..well he had a point with the maple this cause let me tell you Fabe's make these fruit juice sweetned maple donuts that are out of this world! I saw them at whole foods a little while back, they've been a little MIA recently, but i saw you can still purchase them online and select store still carry them. Each donut is 80 calories, 1 g fat, 13 g sugar, 17 g carbs, 1 g protein. No, not a nutritional feat but hey for a donut that has a nice crumbly, sweet taste, this is great.  Its not like a kispy kreme, its a little smaller, but not pathetic small like some other lower calorie treats out there.  It doesn't taste like your average donut, but more like a nice little crumbly maple cake, with a whole it it.  Just, do my favor, spare the bacon!
